Keedox® MXIII Amlogic Android Smart 4K TV Box

I received this as a review sample and was blown away by the speed. I have an two quad core and two dual core models to which to compare this one and this one is significantly faster and smoother. I'll not recite the specs since they are completely listed on this product page. What stands out is this streams smoothly for me. And that is despite the medium speed DSL connection I have at home (I do not subscribe to the premium speed service.)

One thing that struck me is this is closed to a general consumer TV box than any of the others I own. To be honest, it still takes some knowledge of the Andrroid OS, but is far easier to set up than the earlier models that I own that seem to have been designed for hard core geeks.

Although it comes with a remote that can be your sole input device I strongly advise you to invest in a mouse and keyboard. The remote is an exercise in frustration. I plugged a wireless (not bluetooth) keyboard and mouse in via a dongle and they were immediately recognized and functional.

It works beautifully as a multi-media box, but can also be used as an Android computer. If you can access and run a service from your Android phone or tablet, you can download the same app for that service to this box and run it. In fact, it comes with Google Play already installed and has the same functions as an Android phone or tablet (and basically the same user interface, although every brand of phone and tablet seems to have its own look and feel.

For me a big plus is this comes with the 4.4.2 OS pre-installed, which is the same as my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The user interfaces are very different between the two, but everything that I run on my phone runs perfectly on this box (and I have tested my third party apps to verify that).

Bottom line: This is the first TV box device that I have tested that has promise as a general consumer device. If you are an experienced Android phone or tablet user, this TV box will be relatively easy to use. Plus it's fun and gives you the ability to browse the web from your TV as well as run your favorite apps.
